Ski tour in Irdyk Gorge
((SKITOURING GUIDED GROUP))
НIrdyk Gorge is situated in the Eastern part of the Issyk-Kul Region, close to the city of Karakol.
The Issyk-Kul Lake is located at an altitude of 1600 meters above the sea level. Its length is 180 km, and its width 70 km, whereas the depth reaches up to 702 meters. The lake is surrounded by powerful mountain ranges on all sides.
The western part is dry, rains and snowfalls are infrequent visitors here. The air masses are carried by winds to the eastern part, towards the city of Karakol. The high mountains impede the further movement of clouds, and most of the precipitation falls on the northern slopes of the Terskey Ala-Too ridge.
The mild climate in combination with mountainous relief creates ideal conditions for skiing. Whilst the weak ski infrastructure opens up endless opportunities for freeride and ski touring lovers in Kyrgyzstan.
Issyk-Kul Basin is located at an altitude of 1600-1700 meters, while the height of the main ridge is more than 4500 m. The average length of the gorge is 25-30 km. The most interesting ski areas are located at an altitude between 2500 and 3700 m.
Yurt camp is exotic and pristine, it provides you with unique opportunity to get to the slopes that are not accessible when staying in luxury hotels. Such exoticism will surely satisfy you.
Keep in mind that off-piste skiing is an extreme and potentially dangerous sport. Failure to follow the safety rules and guide instructions may result an injury.
