What You Need to Know

Important update: Starting January 20, 2026, new regulations for minors traveling abroad from Russia will take effect. Aeroflot has announced that, from this date, a birth certificate will no longer be valid for children under 14 years old when traveling to several countries, including:

Belarus

Kazakhstan

Kyrgyzstan

What Documents Are Required:

For children under 14, one of the following documents is now mandatory:

The child’s own foreign passport (biometric or non-biometric);

A parent’s non-biometric foreign passport that includes the child’s details.

Without a valid foreign passport, the child will not be allowed to leave Russia.

Returning to Russia:

After January 20, 2026, children will only be able to return to Russia using a birth certificate if they left the country with it before that date.

For Teenagers (14+) - Teenagers may continue to travel to the above countries, as well as to Armenia, using their Russian internal passport.

If Tickets Are Already Purchased:

For trips scheduled after January 20, 2026, where a birth certificate is listed in the booking, passengers can update the travel document information free of charge, provided the name and date of birth remain unchanged.

How to Update the Document:

Through your personal account on the airline’s website (“Manage Booking” section);

By calling the Contact Center at 8-800-444-5555 (toll-free within Russia);

At an airline ticket office;

Through the travel agent who issued the ticket.

Tip: It’s strongly recommended to apply for your child’s passport in advance to ensure smooth travel and avoid any border issues.
