Ski touring in Tien-Shan mountains
(Backcountry in Kyrgyzstan)
Ski-touring on untouched slopes, off-piste and away from hundreds of people crowded near the lift, will give you an unforgettable experience, test your strength and test your capabilities, giving you a boost of vivacity, new skills and satisfaction from skiing.
The Kyrgyz ridge will delight you with its slopes, various routes, ascents and descents along virgin slopes.
The Suusamyr Valley is one of the best off-piste skiing spots. The valley stretches 90 km from east to west, forming the southern (Kyrgyz ridge) and northern (Suusamyr ridge) expositions. You will find wide slopes and steep couloirs. At first glance, this region looks harsh and lifeless, since there are no forests here. However, you will be enchanted by the panorama from these mountains. The drop is up to 1000 meters, often 30 degrees or more. Beautiful dry, powdery snow can be one and a half to two meters thick.
When skiing on the Kyrgyz ridge, accommodation is provided at the hotel. In the Suusamyr valley, accommodation will be in warm and cozy cottages. The cottages provide storage space for ski equipment and a spot for drying clothes. The cafe offers a variety of delicious dishes of European and national cuisine.
Program conditions:
The program is aimed for confident off-piste skiers. The ski area is very extensive, the steepness of the slopes is from 20 to 40 degrees. Altitude gain is up to 1,200 meters. Most routes pass on fir-covered slopes. Ascent options and the number of descents is chosen by the guides based on the group’s readiness, the level of skiing and the preferences of the participants. The difficulty levels of the routes are different. We have something to offer to both experienced free riders and those who are just starting the backcountry.
During the program, one-day hikes (ski touring) and ascents are planned, which means that it is necessary to devote time to physical preparation and training before the trip.
It must be remembered that off-piste skiing is an extreme and potentially dangerous sport. Failure to follow safety instructions and guide's instructions may result in personal injury.
You should be strong and fit and feel comfortable for long walks with your own backpack.
