A Georgian traveler unites the countries of Central Asia.

Recently, we had the opportunity to meet an extraordinary person — Georgian cycling traveler Nodar Beridze. He speaks Georgian, Russian, and Turkish fluently and holds the honorary title of Peace Ambassador of Georgia.

Today, Nodar is working on the international project “Dialogue Along the Silk Road” - SILRODIA No. 1 - 2026. The main idea behind the project is to strengthen connections between the countries of Central Asia through travel, personal communication, and joint initiatives. The project aims to promote friendship between nations, support tourism development, and draw attention to environmental issues.

Nodar’s story is every bit as impressive as his new route. Over the years, he has cycled more than 70,000 kilometers and visited 28 countries. For him, travel has become much more than a lifestyle — it is a way to build dialogue between people of different cultures and nationalities.

The traveler arrived in Central Asia at the beginning of this year. In just a few months, he has ridden through Almaty, Bishkek, Tashkent, Dushanbe, Khiva, and many other cities across the region, meeting local residents and exploring the cultural heritage of the countries located along the historic Silk Road.

The main cycling expedition will begin on September 21, the International Day of Peace established by the United Nations. The starting point will be the ancient city of Khiva in Uzbekistan. A team of five cyclists representing the countries of Central Asia will cover the route to Almaty in 35 days.

The route will pass through 35 cities across Central Asia, including Bukhara, Dushanbe, Khujand, Tashkent, Shymkent, Taraz, Bishkek, and many other destinations. Each of them will become part of a larger international dialogue.

Meeting fellow Georgians is an important part of Nodar’s travels. During his stay in Bishkek, he met the Dudashvili family, who are well known in Kyrgyzstan’s tourism industry.

“In every city, I try to find people from my homeland. In Bishkek, I was fortunate to meet the Dudashvili family. Several generations of their family have worked in tourism, developing travel opportunities throughout Kyrgyzstan and welcoming guests from all over the world. They created the wonderful Asia Mountains Hotel and also operate a mountaineering base camp beneath Lenin Peak. I definitely plan to visit the camp and film interesting stories about life there and the beauty of the Pamirs,” says the traveler.

Nodar also expressed his gratitude to Sergey Davidovich Dudashvili and Alexey Sergeevich Dudashvili for their contribution to the development of tourism.

“I would like to wish them continued success. It is very important that people like them continue developing the tourism industry and show the world the real Kyrgyzstan — welcoming, beautiful, and open to travelers,” he noted.

The SILRODIA No. 1 - 2026 project is only beginning its journey, but it already serves as an inspiring example of how sport, travel, and personal connections can bring people together regardless of borders and distances.
