Excursion to Alamedin gorge
(Hiking to the waterfall and hot springs)

Alamedin mountain gorge is the closest to Bishkek, located just 30 km from the capital. It is very popular among tourists and local residents due to its accessibility and natural radon springs which are medicinal and help fight sleep disturbance, stress and diseases of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems. The sanatorium "Tyoplye Klyuchi” (warm springs) functions in the gorge; it was built here back in the days of the Soviet Union.

In addition to the opportunity to swim in hot radon waters, there is an opportunity to take a simple walk to the Alamedin waterfall which is located 5 kilometers from the car parking. Saturated bright greenery, abundant thickets of sea buckthorn, barberry, wild rose, lulling hum of a crystal-clear mountain river and fresh air determine the beauty of the Alamedin gorge.

Here, you can organize a picnic, children can run along the green slopes, you can pick up medicinal herbs - thyme, oregano and then brew and drink healthy hot tea on winter evenings. The gorge is suitable for anyone who wants to diversify their stay in Kyrgyzstan and not having the opportunity to stay in the country for long wants to see amazing landscapes of the Kyrgyz Mountains.

Excursion to Alamedin gorge. A day trip to the Alamedin gorge and a hike to the waterfall of the same name is one of the easiest walks on the Kyrgyz ridge which is good for families with kids. It’s good to start the trip at 9-10 a.m. The gorge is located just 30 kilometers from Bishkek so you will get to the gorge in about 40 minutes. Entrance to the gorge is absolutely free.

Having walked slightly above the parking lot you will need to cross the Alamedin River to the right side and from there, heading deeper into the gorge, you will begin your smooth hike. The trail goes along a spacious slope covered with herbs and shrubs. When you reach the confluence of the Salyk stream with the Alamedin River, approximately 2 hours after the start, you will see a place of amazing beauty called “Silent backwater”. There is a small grove and the stream’s water spills around with a thin layer shining in the sun. From here you need to turn to the right and after 20 minutes Alamedin waterfall will be seen in all its glory falling between narrow rocks.

After admiring the falling jets of the waterfall, you can go back to the green meadow and organize a picnic. To do this you need to take a snack with you in advance or order lunch boxes from us. After the picnic you can take a break and start your way back.

Alamedin Gorge is wide and big. If you would like to go to the mountains with an overnight stay, then go to Altyn-Tor lake (20 km one way) or to the neighboring Issyk-Ata gorge through the Alamedin pass, of course, under the guidance of an experienced guide.
