Issyk-Ata gorge
(Hiking to the waterfall and hot springs)
The slopes and course of the rough river in the Issyk-Ata Gorge are covered with forest, in which the juniper, wild ash, dog rose and other bushes grow. There are subalpine meadows with many flowers and herbs on the slopes of the mountains. Mount Batu (Botway) rises with a height of 3,800 meters above sea level in the middle of the gorge, at a distance of 7.5 kilometers from the resort. Several tributaries flow into the Issyk-Ata River, and each of them has a waterfall. The very first one with a height of 8 meters is located at an altitude of 2,100 meters above sea level and is close to the resort, at a distance of 2.4 kilometers. It is the most frequent visited waterfall. The bravest can bath in its cold streams. Further, at a distance of 5 kilometers there is a second waterfall, falling from a height of 25 meters with drops. If you wish, we will hike to this waterfall and have a picnic.
If you go deep into the gorge, there are several lakes with glaciers in the side gorges behind. The main gorge continues further to the south and ends with glaciers and the pass to East Karakol beyond the Kyrgyz Ridge. After the picnic we will go down. Those who wish can bath in one of the pools, which will be a pleasant addition after an intensive hiking.
