Southern Kyrgyzstan and Apricot Blossoms
Batken is the southernmost region of Kyrgyzstan. Batken Region remains one of the country’s least-known destinations among travelers. Yet it offers impressive mountain landscapes, ancient monuments and traditional crafts.
The region is home to 32 historical and cultural heritage sites. They tell the story of Batken’s past, its ancient settlements and the peoples who lived for centuries at the crossroads of important routes across Central Asia.
Batken is also known for its remarkable natural scenery: rocky gorges, rugged mountain ranges, caves, green valleys and orchards. The region is especially famous for its apricots, which have become one of its most recognizable symbols.
Traditional crafts, national cuisine and distinctive southern hospitality remain an important part of local life. At the same time, Batken still lies beyond the main tourist routes, making a journey here a genuine discovery even for those who have visited Kyrgyzstan more than once.

Plans are currently underway to develop the region’s tourism infrastructure, improve access roads to heritage sites and create a recognizable tourism brand for Batken.
Batken is a side of Kyrgyzstan that travelers have yet to discover.
