Osh – Kojokelen valley. Osh – Kojo-Kelen Valley (105 km). Let’s start from morning visit of the bazaar to buy fresh food before leaving Osh. Then we take the road to Kojo-Kelen Valley. After 2 hours of drive, we stop at the edge of Papan artificial lake to have a picnic. The road follows the Ak-Bura River and passes through several small villages. At the end of the asphalt road, a track continues into a groove. After fifty kilometers, the Kojo-Kelen valley opens with a reddish landscape background. After accommodation into a homestay we will take a small walk on the path of the coal mine with panoramic views of the ocher color cliffs. Back to the village. Dinner and overnight at a homestay.

Day
2

Kojo-Kelen – under Jiptik pass. Riding day to Jiptik pass. Morning tour of the sacred mountains of Kojo-Kelen, ocher lands sculpted by rain and wind. Then we cross a forest area and ride up to the last yurts. Meet with nomads. Dinner and overnight in tents at 2800m.

Day

Сross Jiptik Pass – Darbaza-Tash (north Sary-Mogol). Djiptik Mountain pass is located on the height of 4185m. In the morning, we will ride by an old path along the river, then we will cross different moraines left by the vanished glaciers. At the pass there is a grand view of the peak Lenin on the other side of the valley of the Pamir Alai. Descent into the canyon to Darbaza-Tash yurt camp. Meals and overnight in yurt.

Day

Darbaza-Tash to Akkiya campsite (6 hours ride 20km). As we leave our camp, we will head by the passage along the grassy slope of the north Sary-Mogol. Need to be mentioned: we will pass through two coalmines and it is not the most beautiful view but after a few kilometers we will get to the green pasture surrounded by unusual form mountains. Then we are tempted to climb the grassy slopes and go above the river on the right. Further, after a few kilometers we will cross the river again to the left and climb the steep slope with a view on the river. This section could worry those who are afraid of heights, but you can be sure of the stability of the path. At the top of the slope there is a small down section, free and open, here we will put our camp.

Day

From the camp to the lakes and back to the camp of Sary-Mogol (20km 6hours). This day of the trek is very beautiful but quite tough. One of our guides will look after the left things and the main guide will accompany you up to the pass. You will need very good trekking boots, because the path is very narrow and stony. Our aim today is to reach the top of the pass from where you can see a panoramic view of the Besh-Kol Lake.

Besh-Kol is a lake that flows one into another before entering a cavern, situated beneath Sary-Mogol Pass (4300m).
