Meeting the spring

Trekking in Konorchek Canyons
(Meeting the spring)

Trekking in Konorchek Canyon is available during the whole year. But the best time for trekking is spring. There is a stormy kaleidoscope of flowering. Ripples are in the eyes. It smells so nice! This is especially evident in May. Due to its special microclimate spring in the Komorchek canyons is particularly noticeable. This is probably the only time of year when canyons begin to live. Water rages in them, flowers bloom, making their way through red clay and sandstones. Birds are chirping around. Red dominant tones of canyons are full of colorful paints. All this last only three spring months. Then comes the time of tranquility.

The unique beauty of the Konorchek canyons is related to their majestic cliffs, dry and transparent air and long shadows falling from nature-created sculptures, illuminated by the late afternoon sun of the Tien Shan. There was a sea millions of years ago. Subsequently, the bottom of the ancient sea lifted up and a plateau was formed. Then the work of water and wind completed the work of the great sculptor - nature, creating fancy shapes of clay cities, figures of people and animals.

The Konorchek canyons occupy the eastern part of the Kyrgyz Ala-Too on a vast territory. Dry canyons with particular types of drought-resistant vegetation, red due to the oxidation of mineral particles, seem to be a cluster of fantastic dilapidated castles, ancient temples, modern skyscrapers, columns and steeples. The unusual forms of these structures of nature gave rise to strange names. The Castle Rock is an impressive massif with a flat top of 300 meters high, surmounted by notched turrets. The Bobsleigh Canyon, Grand Canyon, Sinclinal, Fairy Tale and others.
