Aigul flower and surroundings of Osh city
(3 days in the southern capital of Kyrgyzstan)
Spring has already come to Kyrgyzstan and very soon endemic flowers will delight us with bright colors. One of the rarest flowers in Kyrgyzstan is the Aigul flower, which grows in Batken region. It begins to bloom closer to mid-April. Flowering lasts only a couple of weeks.
This bright orange flower grows in Kyrgyzstan and on the Turkestan Range. The name of the flower is translated as Moon Flower. When the flower begins to bloom, the locals celebrate a flower festival.
Aigul is listed in the Book of rare species, so you cannot pick it, otherwise you will face a fine! The peculiarity of the flower is that it grows on the shady side of the mountains. The stem is about one meter high. Every year one bud appears on the stem, you can see how old each plant is. Locals say they met Aigul with 30 buds!
But not only this awaits you on our tour, you will also be able to visit the most beautiful valley of Kozho-Kelen, where amazing red rocks go up from the bank of the Djiptyk River, where pilgrims perform bathing rituals in the sacred grotto and where tourists go through the Dzhiptyk pass to the Alai Valley and further under Lenin Peak (7134m). You will visit the Abshir-Sai gorge, where there is a sacred waterfall bursting right out of the rock and you will be able to learn more about the surroundings of the southern capital of Kyrgyzstan.
