Along the Beautiful Garden Route

Drive in South Africa
(Along the Beautiful Garden Route)

The Republic of South Africa is called one of the most beautiful countries in the world. This country combines an exotic vacation, when you can watch predatory animals on a safari, and quality accommodation at the best resorts. You can taste unusual African dishes, enjoy breathtaking mountain scenery and learn about African culture.

Sandy beaches and exotic cuisine await you on the West Coast, while on the east coast you will discover landscapes of unprecedented beauty. Cape winemakers will surprise you with unsurpassed South African wines, and wonderful hotels will give you a rich and unforgettable vacation!

In the extreme southwest of the country is the fynbos biome - a type of shrub vegetation that prevails in the territory of the Cape region of South Africa, the most species-rich floristic kingdom on the planet. It is here that South African wine is mainly produced.

The east coast is known for constant winds blowing all year round. The wind in the area of the Cape of Good Hope is so strong that at one time it caused a lot of inconvenience to sailors and often led to shipwrecks.

We will drive from Cape Town to Durban, along the famous Garden Route, through the small Karoo region, to the wild coast of the Eastern Cape. This self-driving route is one of the most popular and interesting stretches of South Africa coastline: temperate landscape of sandy beaches, surfing, exciting safari parks, nature reserves, rocky coasts and quaint small towns surrounded by ostrich, wine and olive farms - the best way to spend your ten-day vacation in South Africa.

During certain seasons and water conditions (high tide) the waves clap is such a fashion that the concussion can be heard throughout the valley.

The Legend of Hole in The Wall: Xhosa mythology tells a far more romantic tale of the sea people, semi deities who look like humans but have supple wrists and ankles and flipper-like hands and feet. A beautiful girl living on the Wild Coast, in a village near a lagoon, cut off from the sea by a mighty cliff, was seen by one of the sea people who became overwhelmed by her beauty and tried to woo her.

To cut a long story short: in dealing with the wrath of her father, the sea people enlisted the help of a huge fish who battered its way headfirst through the wall of rock. Through this hole spilled the sea people who swept the young Xhosa maiden away.
