This Mount Kenya tour with "Asia Mountains" offers an exciting ascent through scenic trails and camps. You will start your journey from Nairobi, gradually climbing to Lenana Peak at 4,985 meters, where you'll witness the sunrise. The tour includes trekking through forests, alpine zones, valleys, and lakes. You'll experience unforgettable views of peaks, waterfalls, and gorges, along with overnight stays in mountain camps, fully immersed in nature. You will see breathtaking views from the summit of Mount Kenya. The journey concludes with a descent and relaxation in a comfortable hotel in Nairobi.

Day
1

6 November 2024: Arrive in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. On your arrival in the capital you will be met at the airport and escorted to your hotel where you can relax after your journey. You will be accommodated at the cosy Sarova Panafric or similar hotel, where comfortable rooms have been prepared for you.

Dinner is not included but we can help you organise it.

2

7 November 2024: Nairobi/Nanyuki/Sirimon Gate/Judmier Camp (Old Moses Camp). 3-4 hours, 9km, 860m ascent. In the morning, at 7:30, you will be picked up from Nairobi and driven to Nanyuki where we will stop for lunch. After lunch, another transfer awaits us to Sirimon Gate at 2440m. From here we will start our trek on a winding trail through a picturesque forest, which after 3 hours gently changes to wasteland. After 3-4 hours we will reach the Joudmier camp, which is located at an altitude of 3300m.

Here we will enjoy dinner and relax in the campsite gently getting used to the altitude.

3

8 November 2024: Old Moses | Liki North Camp, 10 km, 3 hours, 600 m ascent. Today we will continue our ascent, covering 9 km in about 5 hours of trekking. The trail will take us to Liki North Camp at 3900m. Along the way you will be surrounded by spectacular views of the Kenya mountain valleys, unique Afro-alpine vegetation and the majestic peaks of Batian and Nelion.

Overnight stay will be at Liki North Camp, where strong winds are possible, so it is advisable to bring windproof clothing.

4

9 November 2024: Liki North | Shipton's Camp, 5km, 2-3 hours, 4000m. After breakfast we will start our ascent to the Mackinders Valley, where we will have great views of the peaks of Lenana, Nelion and Batian. Today we will already be entering the snow zone, we advise you to have appropriate footwear and warm clothing. At Shipton's Camp, at an altitude of 4200 we will have dinner and tented camp and fantastic views all around.

10 November 2024: Shipton Camp | Mackinders Camp, 7km, 3 hours, 4200m. From Shipton Camp, the trail leads to Kami Hut below the northern slope of Batian. Continuing south-west, we will climb serpentine snow trails, reaching the Hausberg saddle at 4590m. From there the descent into the Hausberg valley begins, where you can relax by the Hausberg Lakes. After crossing the crest of the Arthur Ridge, the trail leads along picturesque rock ledges, bringing us to Mackinder's Camp, where our next overnight stay will be at 4200m altitude.

6

11 November 2024: Mackinders Camp/Point Lenana/Mintos Hut, 8 hours, ascent to 785m. Early in the morning, at 3 o'clock, we will set off on the steep stony path leading to the summit. This climbing section, skirting rock ledges, will give you spectacular views of the lower Hall Tarns Lakes. After 3 hours we will reach Mt Lenana, one of the peaks of Mount Kenya, and we will climb it just in time for sunrise. After savouring the splendour of the sunrise, the descent to Mintos Hut will begin, which will take about 2 hours.

Upon arrival, a well-deserved breakfast and rest will be waiting for us with the option to walk to the picturesque Lake Michaelson.

7

12 November 2024: Mintos Hut/Mount Meru Bandas, 4~5 hours, 1,250m descent. After breakfast, we will continue down the mountain, covering 20km in 4-5 hours. The trail will lead to Meru Bandas mountain at an altitude of 2950m. There are stops along the way to admire the scenic gorges, waterfalls and stunning views around. Next, you will be transferred by 4x4 off-road vehicle to Nairobi where you will spend the night at the Sarova Panafric Hotel, enjoying comfort and a final dinner.
