Tour around Issyk-Kul Lake
(Bokonbaevo, Tamga, Djeti-Oguz, Karakol)

You have probably already been to Issyk-Kul Lake, bathed in its blue waters and rested on its sandy beaches. In this tour we want to show you its other side - the beauties that are located in the depths of the mountains surrounding the pearl of Kyrgyzstan - sand canyons, waterfalls, glaciers and alpine lakes, beautiful gorges and huge rock formations. Yes – all of this is also located in the Issyk-Kul valley and also attracts photographers' cameras and admiring glances of tourists.

In this tour you will drive around the lake but all the attention is focused on its southern shore which is full not of hotels and resorts but of natural beauties. You can spend nights as once Kyrgyz people did many centuries ago - in real felt yurts where if you open the canopy you can watch the night sky with myriad of stars; You can see how felt carpets are made by hand, can see real hunting falcons and even hold them in your hands. You will be able to pull up your physical form by strolling up the gorges to the waterfalls flowing in cold sparkling jets, admiring the sandy forms of canyons and enjoying the snowy peaks of high mountains.

Day
1

Bishkek – Bokonbaevo. Gathering at the Asia Mountains hotel and departure from Bishkek. Near the city of Tokmok we will visit the historical complex of Burana Tower. Further, the road runs through the Chuy valley and winds through the Boom gorge. Here we take a walk with you through the canyons of Konorchek. (the walk takes about 4 hours). After that we will go to the southern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul. Finally coming to the valley of Lake Issyk-Kul we will continue our journey and stop in the village of Bokonbaevo. We will visit the local Berkutchi who will gladly tell us about his birds and even let us hold them in hands. If we have time we will also visit the local felt factory and watch a shirdak show (showing the production of national rugs - shardaks). The night will be in yurts on the shores of the lake. (-/Lunch/Dinner)

Day
2

Bokonbaevo – Tamga. Today we will be transferred to the village of Tamga where we will stay for the night in a guest house. Our path will run along the southern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul. If you have already been on the northern shore of the lake (and this is probably true), you will see a stunning difference between the northern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul and its southern one. The southern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul is more diverse in landscape and less populated. To begin with, we will visit the gorge "Fairy Tale" with you. The whole originality of this place is colorful rocks frozen in bizarre forms as if after an eruption. Solid limestone and sandstone clusters look like the ruins of ancient castles. The most amazing thing is that the architect and sculptor of this place is nature itself which used only water, sun and wind as its tools.
After lunch, we will go further to the Barskoon gorge famous for its waterfalls and climb to the Arabel pass from where there will be an opportunity to see glaciers and alpine lakes. Descent to the village of Tamga and free time to relax. (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

Day
3

Tamga – Djety-Oguz gorge. After breakfast, we will be transferred to the Djeti-Oguz gorge along the southern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul. The Djeti-Oguz gorge is located 60 km west of the city of Karakol on the northern slopes of the Terskey Ala-Too ridge in the same named gorge with a length of more than 40 km. Djeti-Oguz gorge is one of the most beautiful places in Kyrgyzstan.
If desired you may hike up to a low mountain from where a magnificent view of the Djeti-Oguz gorge opens which means “Seven Bulls” in Kyrgyz. The gorge got such a name for a reason. "Seven Bulls" is an ensemble consisting of red rocks towering above the resort area. The rock ensemble “Broken Heart” - a symbol of love which gave rise to many beautiful legends is also located here. Legends in turn attract not only tourists but also lovers living in nearby villages. Here you can also take a walk to the waterfall called the “Girl’s Braids”. Dinner and night in yurts. (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

Day
4

Djety-Oguz gorge - Karakol – Cholpon-Ata - Bishkek. Today we will have a long drive home. In the morning, after breakfast, we will go to the city of Karakol and take a city tour with a visit to the wooden Russian Orthodox Church, the Dungan mosque (XIX century) and the local bazaar. Also if you have a desire you can visit the Przewalski Museum. Drive another 150 kilometers and we are in the city of Cholpon-Ata. Here you can visit the historical museum and stop at the beach for a swim. After that we will go straight back to the capital. Arrival in Bishkek. The end of the program. ((Breakfast/Lunch/-)
