Not sure where to find good snow to ski? Welcome to Jyrgalan valley. Our friend Mikhail Mamuta has visited a unique area and shares his impressions of the ski touring under the guidance of professional guide Oleg Turaev.
Wonderful Western Tien Shan! Beautiful area of Jyrgalan valley was created for ski touring. You can choose different routes. We made two ascents and several impressive lines on a fresh snow.
The valley is located in the Issyk-Kul region, just 60 kilometers from Karakol. The valley is located at the altitude of 2300 m. It has its own special microclimate and there are no strong winds or extremely low temperatures. The skiing season lasts until March-April, depending on weather conditions.
Jyrgalan is one of the best areas for skitouring. We recommend skiing with experienced guides.
