Kok-Moinok gorge
Picturesque gorge Kok-Moinok is located at the territory of the Tuyuk-Issykatinsky forestry. It takes 75 km to get there from Bishkek. You will see a small waterfall and a beautiful mountain lake here.
The path begins from small houses. Altitude at the start point is 1600 meters above the sea level. The first step is to cross the river. The bridge was destroyed by the mudflow. Today you can cross the river through an old fallen tree.
Then you continue the way up by a dirt road. You will see a fish farm and later the road will become a narrow path. The way is leading to the remote and picturesque beauties of a mountain gorge.
The way to the waterfall takes about 6 km. The trail goes up and down. It runs above the river and you will see a beautiful river amount spruces. The slopes of the mountains are covered by bushes of barberries and raspberries. On the way you can collect hers and mashrooms.
If you are in good physical shape and full of energy then go to the beautiful mountain lake Kok-Moinok. The lake is located at the altitude 2700 meters. The length of the path in one direction is 11 km. You should be strong enough to make this way.
Kok-Moinok Lake is located at the foot hills of the peak called Sugar Loaf. The mountain got its name because of the white “pillow” on the top. You will be impressed by reflection in the lake: snow white peaks and crystal clear water. The silence and calm around and no need to hurry up. Relax and enjoy the beauty. It's time to say goodbye to the giant mountains and go back. Don’t forget you will need to make 11 km back to the car.
Kok-Moynok gorge is beautiful at any time of the year. Pictures were made in October. Autumn in the mountains is a wonderful time! The slopes are covered of red and yellow colors. It is already a bit frosty in the morning and becomes rather warm in the afternoon.
