Avatar Mountains - China
(Overland trip by BYD Yangwang U8 )

China is one of the most astonishing and mysterious countries in the world. Its vast territory, diverse climates, and landscapes make it a breathtaking destination, and the Chinese people are renowned everywhere. In this vast land, you can encounter towering modern cities, remote villages far removed from civilization, and landscapes that could easily belong in a science fiction film. However, it is the natural beauty that captivates the most. China is home to 11,800 nature reserves, which cover 18% of its territory.

With its mild climate and rich cultural heritage, China attracts tourists from all over the globe.

We are set for an exciting journey through China’s remarkable landscapes, where you will be behind the wheel.

The highlight of our trip will be Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, where we will witness mountains of incredible shapes and visit the iconic Hallelujah Mountain, made famous by the movie Avatar.

Day
2

Chengdu – BYD range – SISHUI. 385 km. This morning, we will meet at our vehicles for a briefing, during which we will discuss the specifics of driving in China and review the rules for traveling in a convoy. After familiarizing ourselves with the cars, we will head to the BYD off-road track for our first encounter with the YANGWANG U8.

We will explore the vehicle, its capabilities, and various unique features, and you will have the opportunity to test it on natural obstacles by driving the prepared course in the U8.

After an exciting and exclusive test drive, we will enjoy lunch at a restaurant before continuing our journey to the town of Sishui, where we will be staying overnight.

Day
3

SISHUI – FENGHUANG. 480 km. Today is going to be a very interesting day! We will set off from Sishui to Maotai, which is about a one-and-a-half-hour drive away. This is the birthplace of the famous Baijiu (a type of liquor) known as "Maotai," recognized as both the "national drink" and the "diplomatic drink" of China. This special variety of Chinese liquor has a distinct sweet flavor that you must try while you're here. You can also visit the Maotai Cultural Center to learn more about its production and significance in Chinese culture.

After that, we will continue our journey and travel approximately 115 kilometers southeast to the city of Zunyi. Zunyi serves as an important transit point for exploring the northern part of Guizhou Province. This city is historically significant for the Communist Party of China, as it was here, in 1935, that Mao Zedong established leadership during a party congress, which became a pivotal moment for the party's strategy.

After visiting the museum and having lunch, we will go to Fenghuang, where we will spend the night.

Day
4

FENGHUANG - ZHANGJIAJIE. 262 km. In the morning, after driving 200 kilometers, we will visit the Grand Canyon of Zhangjiajie, known as the "Museum of Zhangjiajie Landforms." The canyon is surrounded by towering peaks. For thousands of years, rushing river flows have carved their way through the landscape, creating this stunning canyon. There is an established hiking route that begins on a mountain plateau and ends in a lush green valley. The trail is not challenging and requires a minimum level of physical fitness.

Here, you will also have the opportunity to test your courage by taking an exciting walk across one of the main attractions of the Grand Canyon—the longest glass bridge, which spans two cliffs. At 6 meters wide and 430 meters long, it hangs over a sheer drop of 300 meters. Not everyone manages to cross it with ease!

After lunch in Zhangjiajie, we will head to the Huanglong Cave. The cave system stretches for 15 kilometers and consists of both dry and wet levels. The tour of the cave lasts about two hours and includes a boat ride along one of the underground rivers. By the evening, we will arrive at our hotel.

Day
5

ZHANGJIAJIE - FUJUN. 80 km. Today, we will visit the legendary Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, also known by tourists as the Avatar Mountains. We will ascend to Yuanjiajie Mountain using the world’s highest outdoor elevator, the Bailong Elevator, to see the First Bridge Under Heaven, the Mihun Platform, the Back Garden, and the Hallelujah Mountain.

Next, we will travel by eco-friendly vehicle to the scenic Tianzi Mountain, exploring Helong Park with its whimsical rock formations and peaks. One of these formations, known as the "Fairy Spreading Flowers," resembles a fairy in a floral dress admiring her reflection on the water's surface.

Our journey will then continue to Fujun, just 80 kilometers away. This city is also known by another name derived from a film shot here—Hibiscus City.

Fujun is famous for its waterfall that flows into the Yu River. At night, both the waterfall and the city transform: the waterfall is illuminated in a variety of colors, and round Chinese lanterns light up the rooftops of the pagodas. Take a stroll through the city and enjoy the fantastic nighttime illumination of the Old Town.

Day
6

FUJUN - WULONG. 385 km. We continue our journey to Wulong. Wulong is renowned for its unique karst formations, and the Wulong Karst National Geological Park is an important part of the South China Karst. Located at the confluence of the Wu River in southeastern Chongqing, this park is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

We will visit the famous "Three Natural Bridges," a karst landscape marvel consisting of a series of natural limestone bridges. After 2.5 hours of exploring these attractions, we will return to the hotel for a delicious dinner.

In your free time, you can enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the surrounding nature as you prepare for new adventures the following day.

Day
7

WULONG - DAZU – CHENGDU. 475. km. In the morning, we will depart for Chengdu and drive 262 kilometers to see the Dazu Rock Carvings, a complex of ancient rock reliefs and religious sculptures. Carved in stone during the 7th century AD, these reliefs reflect Buddhist, Confucian, and Taoist beliefs. The complex consists of 75 protected sites, featuring at least 50,000 statues. Over 100,000 inscriptions and epigraphs are carved into the rock.

Some of the carvings are located in cave sanctuaries in traditional Chinese Buddhist style, while most are etched directly onto open rock surfaces. In 1999, the Dazu temple and cave complex was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site as an "outstanding embodiment of the harmonious synthesis of Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism".

We will have lunch in Dazu, and then continue our journey, arriving in Chengdu in time for dinner. We will enjoy a festive dinner to conclude the program.

Day
8

The end of the program . On this day, after lunch at the hotel, the bus will take you to the airport for your return flight. Departure.
