My name is Elena Dudashvili (for friends and relatives - Alyona). For more than 20 years I manage the Asia Mountains Company. The official opening date of the company is October 12, 1999, but this was like the day of maturity, when the company got a passport and stepped into the adulthood. You might be interested why.
All my conscious life my family was engaged in tourism. First, it was the speleo-tourism club for students.
This was a time of real adventure when we together with my parents, my brother and our friends went to an expedition. We searched for caves, stayed there for weeks, cooked ourselves, learned to work with maps and even draw them.
In the early nineties, my parents began to conduct tours for foreign tourists who really wanted to see the unknown Kyrgyzstan at that time. Every year international interest towards the country grew and in 1999 my father, Sergey Davidovich Dudashvili, and a family friend, Alexander Gubaev (a famous mountain climber from Kyrgyzstan), decided that it was time to become more serious and create a real travel company. This is how the Asia Mountains appeared.
Almost immediately we became the leading company in the country. The announced directions were difficult to implement. However, having many years of experience in organizing extreme expeditions and independent travels outside the country, these difficulties did not seem significant to us. Although, I must say, it was not easy.
I am recalling different situations. For example, at that time it was impossible to buy normal tents not only in Kyrgyzstan, but also in Russia. We had to sew them ourselves. Imagine the surprise of foreigners when they, already accustomed to the North Face or Salewa, saw our “handicraft” works, sometimes not worse than their branded gear.
There were no roads in our country either, and almost all the tours were held on an all-wheel drive soviet vehicle (vahtovka). There were no hotels even in large cities, not speaking about villages. Later, the locals began to realize that by remaking their house as a guest house, they would have a steady income.
Foreigners were always welcome as valuable guests in yurts, in jailoo or in the mountains for free. However, this hospitality has not gone anywhere. All this time I was part of the company.
For many years I worked as a guide. I liked to guide tourists not only to trekking, but even to Lenin Peak. For me it was not difficult, since traveling was and still is a way my of life.
What really matters to me are all the tourists who went through our company, and this, believe me, not even one thousand people. We are still friends with many of them.
We are still a small family company where every guest has a NAME. Moreover, our partners are not just e-mail and Internet addresses on the other side of virtual reality, but our real friends with whom we meet and come up with new tours for you. Yes, we have grown, and in many respects thanks to our guests and partners.

Our programs and adventure tours are usually compiled of small friendly groups, consisting of very different and interesting people of various professions and social status. As a rule, the group includes from two to eighteen people, aging 18-70 years. The ratio of men and women is about the same.
Most of the people, traveling with us, are fun and open-minded people who are happy to get new experiences, impressions and who are ready for the adventures and challenges that arise along the way. They do not come to new countries in search of the same feelings that they may experience at home. On the contrary, the standard program will not interest them.
