On last Sunday, November 19, 2017, the First Bishkek International Half-marathon was held under the auspices of the Bishkek City Hall. The main organizer was Run the Silk Road (also organizer of the Issyk-Kul Marathon and  Half-marathon). The composition of participants can speak for the fact that it became truly international: Kazakhstan (38 people), Zimbabwe (1), USA (7), Venezuela (1), Ukraine (2), Great Britain (2), Tajikistan (3), Russia (19), Latvia (1), Argentina (3), Azerbaijan (3), Canada (1), China (2), Colombia (3), Estonia (2), France (4), Germany (2), Italy (1), Japan (5). This is apart from the runners from Kyrgyzstan.

In total, about 1000 participants came to the start of three distances - 3 km, 10 km and 21 097 m, although much more was registered. And this is despite the snow falling since night, cold windy weather and slush mixed with ice.

It seemed that nature had decided to test athletes not just for endurance on the distances but also for weather resistance. Nevertheless, neither soaking feet, no lungs scorching air and flakes falling from the sky could keep athletes and running amateurs from rushing to show the best results.

The entertainment program was organized by the Europa Plus radio station.  The narrators from the radio station represented the winners and prize-winners. Everything was organized at a good level: food and drinks on the distances, free tea and massage for finishers, food court for all, music and competitions. The event was supported by various companies, which acted as partners and sponsors. The Asia Mountains Company also did not stand aside giving memorable prizes, as well as directly participating in the race for 21 km.

Come to Kyrgyzstan next year! Let's run!
