Apricot fest 2017 in Barskoon
On July 22 in the village of Barskoon in Jeti-Oguz district of the Issyk-Kul region there was a festival of apricots.
The first event like that took place last year in 2016 in the village of Tosor, and this year the village of Barskoon took over. The main goal of the "Өrүk fest" is to unite the villages of the district, popularize the products grown in the Jeti-Oguz district, mobilize domestic resources and attract foreign investments for the development of the fruit and vegetable sector.
"The Issyk-Kul region, namely the Jeti-Oguz region, has a great potential for the development of this direction. Every year tons of apricots are taken to Kazakhstan and Russia. The festival demonstrated the desire of farmers to unite and seek out new markets. The plenipotentiary representation of the government in the Issyk-Kul region is working on the issue of creating a Guarantee Fund that could provide loans to small and medium-sized farms that are clustered along the lines," - said Askhat Akibaev (plenipotentiary in Issyk-Kul oblast).
Seven ayil aimaks of Jeti-Oguz region, producers from Batken and Jalal-Abad oblasts presented their products at the festival. In addition to jam, juices, compotes, apricots and dried apricots, cakes and pies, visitors could buy soap, creams, scrubs and shampoos.
