| On the 12ve of August is appointed the start of international speleological expedition in the network of project "Unknown Tien-Shan" with a support of TC "Asia Mountains". The participants of expedition are form Belgium, Germany, Russia and Kyrgyzstan. |
About 100 caves are known in Kyrgyzstan. Most of them are situated in the southern regions of republic. Al of them are easily accessible, have horizontal formation and just a few of them have rather big sizes.
Kan-i-Gut, the most extensive cave is located on the south-west of the country and has length of 3kilometres. The deepest vertical gulf "Fersmana" (240m) is on the Tuya-Moun Mountain in Osh region.
The majority of known caves were discovered in 70s-80s years of last century.

Potential for speleological expeditions in Kyrgyzstan is undeflated. Huge territories of the country, especially near by Kyrgyz-Chinese border under the remoteness from human settlements still remain undiscovered. Part of these regions is made of karst rocks and has a particularly requisites for creating sizeable cavities, of horizontal and vertical placement.
First international expedition with a participation of Belgium speleologists took place in 2005. Two caves, approximately 100meters long were found. This region was chosen by many reasons: the nearest ridges consist of karst rocks, canyons cut mountain massifs from south to north, and entrances to the caves are located on the canyons walls. Plus there have never been hold any speleological investigations.
 Start of the expedition.2005 year
In 1970, participants of speleological brigade of Geology Department of Kyrgyz SSR have found Kokiya cave of complex configuration of 500meters long. In other cave, a storage of ancient weapon and utensils was found. However serious discoveries have never been made.
 Participants of the expedition.1971 year
This region is famous for splendid wild landscapes, high intermountain plains cover alpine meadows. A lake of extraordinary beauty, called Kel-Suu is in the upper head of Kokiya river.
Participants of current expedition will make a large-scale search of caves. Sport groups and scientific brigades will try to make a detailed investigation, including photo, video and topographical survey of caves.
Since this region is of interest as little-studied natural complex, there is an intension to organize other expeditions.
