Kyrgyzstan is a home to a diverse class of birds of prey such as: falcons ( Lesser kestrel , Common kestrel , Red-footed Falcon, Merlin , Eurasian hobby , Saker falcon , Gyrfalcon, Peregrine Falcon, Barbary Falcon, Laggar falcon ) - A large class of birds of prey (Eurasian honey-buzzard , Oriental honey-buzzard , Black-eared kite, Pallas's Fish eagle , White- tailed eagle, Egyptian vulture , Lammergeier, Himalayan griffon, Eurasian griffon, Cinereous vulture , Short-toed Snake eagle , Steppe eagle , Imperial eagle , Golden eagle, Bonelli's eagle, Booted eagle .

You may watch them in the period from May to October.

The program includes: familiarity with the life , culture and folklore of the local population, accommodation in yurts .

The program will take place on the mountain lake Son- Kul, situated at an altitude of 3016 m. Around the lake nomads pitch their yurts in the beginning of the summer. From ancient times they chose this fantastically beautiful place for their summer camps . This is evidenced by the rock carvings, ancient stone calendars and mounds of Scythian times .

Kirghiz loved and valued hunting birds as skilful and clever hunters. The fascinating hunting has lost relevance as a means of food gaining, but some people to this day raise bird in the tradition and it is passed down from generation to generation.

Program: 

Day 1.  Arrive to Bishkek. Transfer to Hotel. Accommodation. City tour. Excurtion to the National Park Ala-Archa with the visit to museum of Flora and Fauna of the park. Return to Bishkek. Rest in the hotel. 

Day 2. Transfer to Son-Kul lake located on the height of 3016 m above the sea level. Upon arrival accommodation and overnight in yurt.

Day 3. Lake Son-Kul. Horse games. Bird observation, such as: Whooper Swan, Bar-headed Goose, Gadwall, Mallard, Northern Pintail, Garganey, Tufted Duck, Black-tailed Godwit. Overnight in yurt. 

Day 4. Lake Son-Kul. Excursion along the shore. Bird observation. Overnight in yurt. 

Day 5. Transfer to Tash-Rabat. Stop on the way to observe birds. Upon arrival accommodation and overnight in yurt.

Day 6. Tash-Rabat. Bird observation. Overnight in yurt. 

Day 7. Transfer back to Bishkek. Accommodation in the hotel. Dinner. 

Day 8. Trabsfer to Manas airport. End of the program.

Ornithological tour in the northern part of Kyrgyzstan.

Program: Bishkek– Issyk-Kul - Altyn-Arashan - Son-Kul - Bishkek
Dates: End of May – beginning of October

Duration: 10 days

Ornithologists can spot a wide variety of bird-life in Kyrgyzstan — which includes some 335 species. In different areas of the country one can encounter pheasant, grey herons, the «cherry bird», woodpecker, eagle-owl, silvered sea-gull, red-wing flamingo amongst others.

Issyk Kul - where we are going to take you, is a second largest Alpine lake in the world; it never freezes entirely due to its mild salinity, extreme depth (reaching 700m) and thermal activity. The water level has dropped considerably over several hundreds of years, and this can be clearly observed in eastern areas. However, this has has created excellent feeding and resting grounds for many birds. In winter Issyk Kul is the only open water in the region. On Lake Issyk-Kul you can meet «hissing» swans, «crying» swans, grey geese, and pelicans. 

Another lake is much smaller and situated on the height of 3500 m above the sea level. Song Kul is the most beautiful, located on an immense open plateau surrounded by high mountains. The lake gets frozen already in October and the last ice melts in May. The bar-headed Geese are already breeding by then on one of the small islands among the many other waterfowl. 

The program includes the bird observation on the shores of the lake and in the mountain gorges nearby, observation of birds on the lake Son-Kul from May till October. 

Program: 

Day 1. Arrive to Bishkek. Transfer to Hotel. Accommodation. City tour. Rest.

Day 2. Excurtion to the National Pakr Ala-Archa with the visit to museum of Flora and Fauna of the park. Return to Bishkek. Rest in the hotel. 

Day 3. Transfer to the lake Issyk-Kul to the region of Korumdy village. Accommodation in hotel on the shore of the lake.

Day 4. Excursion to Grigorievskoe gorge to see birds of the mountaineous region of the northern shore of Issyk-Kul lake such as:, чтобы увидеть птиц предгорной части северного берега Иссык-Куля, таких как: Himalayan snowcock, chukar, Daurian partridge, common pheasant, black grouse, woodpeckers, European Bee-eater, Eurasian cuckoo. Return to the hotel. Rest. 

Day 5. Transfer to Altyn-Arashan gorge. Accommodation in the house of locals.

Day 6. Altyn-Arashan gorge. Trecking to the upper part of the river. Bird observation such as: Ruddy Shelduck, Mallard, Garganey, Common Hoopoe, Common Kingfisher, Bee-eaters, Swifts, Nightjars, Pigeons, Doves, Demoiselle Crane. 

Day 7. Transfer to the southern shore of Issyk-Kul to Djeti-Oguz gorge. Accommodation in yurts. Trecking along the gorge. Bird observation, such as: Ibisbill, Cormorants, Herons, Bitterns, Black and White Storks,Dippers, Thrushes (blue whistling thrush), Rufous-backed Redstart, Isabelline Wheatear, Wallcreeper, Crests, Grey Wagtail. Overnight in yurt.

Day  8. Transfer to Son-Kul lake located on the height of 3016 m above the sea level. Upon arrival accommodation and overnight in yurt.

Day 9. Lake Son-Kul. Excursion along the shore. Bird observation, such as: Whooper Swan, Bar-headed Goose, Gadwall, Mallard, Northern Pintail, Garganey, Tufted Duck, Black-tailed Godwit. Overnight in yurt.

Day 10. Trabsfer back to Bishkek. Rest. Trabsfer to Manas airport. End of the program.

Dates: End of May – beginning of October

Duration: 9 days

The program includes: drive over two high mountain passes, from which there are great views onto endless mountaineous rodges and Suusamyr valley.

The aim of the journey is bird observation in Sary-Chelek national reserve on the shore of a beautiful lake Sary-Chelek.

Program: 

Day 1. Arrive to Bishkek. Transfer to Hotel. Accommodation. City tour. Excurtion to the National Park Ala-Archa with the visit to museum of Flora and Fauna of the park. Return to Bishkek. Rest in the hotel. 

Day 2. Transfer to Sary-Chelek National Reserve. The road goes through the high mountaineous passes Ala-Bel (3184 m) and Tyu-Ashuu (3586 m). We will stop at the top of the passes and in Suusamyr valley for bird observation. For overnight we will stop in the beautiful Chichkan gorge.Accommodation and overnight in the guest house.

Day 3. Arrival to Sary-Chelek National Reserve. Accommodation in tents.

Day 4. Sary-Chelek national reserve. Sary-Chelek lake. Bird observation. Overnight in tents.

Day 5. Sary-Chelek national reserve. Ala-Kyol lake. Bird observation. Overnight in tents.

Day 6. Sary-Chelek national reserve. Bird observation. Overnight in tents.

Day 7. Transfer to Osh town. City tour with visiting of Osh bazaar and excurtion to Suuleiman-Too. Accommodation and overnight in the hotel.

Day 8. Transfer to the airport.Flight to Bishkek. Accommodation in the hotel. Dinner. 

Day 9. Transfer to Manas airport. End of the program.
